A good way to start your collection of science tools is to purchase a portable chemistry kit. The one showcased here has a variety of labware, chemicals, and test kits. Some labs done with the kit let you investigate environmental concerns inside and outside your home. This would include testing of water, air, and soil. The kit for these students is much cheaper for several reasons. First of all it is a refurbished kit, so not all items are new (but they look new). Secondly, the large number of kits purchased by these CHM107LL students brings costs down. Finally, Sound Science is dedicated to helping students and therefore is making these kits available slightly above its own cost.
